Texas Was Sued After Investigating Families of Trans Youth for Abuse

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a lawsuit against the Texas government that investigated parents of transgender children and other persons involved for abuse.

Previously Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered the state health agencies to inspect whether the medical treatment of transgender youth is “child abuse.” The plaintiffs in this petition are Jane and John Doe as parents of a transgender teenager Mary Doe and a clinical psychologist, Dr. Megan Mooney.

Mooney diagnosed Mary Doe with gender dysphoria, psychological distress when a person desires to be of another gender or change primary or secondary gender features.

In response to the lawsuit, Abbott and his team claimed that even transgender children are too young to be prescribed any physiological treatment. In addition, Abbott’s supporters mentioned intentions to criminalize medical care for transgender children.
