FBI Arrests Michigan GOP Candidate Ryan Kelley for Riots at US Capitol

On Thursday, the FBI charged a Republican gubernatorial candidate for Michigan, Ryan Kelley, for involvement in the 2021 riots at Capitol.
Kelley was arrested at his residence in Allendale, MI. On the same day, the court set him free on his recognizance. The Republican was actively posting on Facebook throughout the arrest process. His team greeted him warmly after his release.
According to the FBI statement of facts, Kelley “climbed onto and stood on an architectural feature next to the North West stairs and indicated by waving his hand that the crowd behind him should move towards the stairs leading into the US Capitol building.” The Republican posted plenty of photo and video materials on his social media, proving his presence at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The primary governor election in Michigan will be on August 2, 2022. The Republican winner will compete with the current Democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer in November.
