Florida Legislature Signs Bill Restricting LGBTQ Discussion in Schools

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education Bill which caused nationwide controversy in the US.
An unofficial name for the bill is “Don’t Say Gay”. Previously approved by the Senate, the act postulates that employees at schools and kindergartens must not talk about “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” with minor students as it “is deemed inappropriate by “state standards”.”
The Florida Governor explained the core meaning of this bill as “parents’ rights have been increasingly under assault around the nation.”

The state lawmakers have passed the bill on the death penalty for people living with a mental disorder by a 25 to 9 vote on Friday....
Meanwhile, American society highly criticized the bill. In February 2022, the Public opinion Lab at the University of North Florida has polled Floridians on the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. According to the results, 49% of the state citizens don’t agree with the LGBTQ topic restriction in schools while 40% of voters shared they support the new law regulation.
